The school and Gelvandale SSS has formed a partnership with a German school Helene-Lange-Schule. We currently have 2 german learners on an exchange programme at our school. One of teachers visited Germany during the Easter break and 12 of our learners will visit Germany next year. The 3 schools are working on a project to produce cheap and save energy from alternative sources.
The following sporting codes are offered by the school:
Soccer for boys and girls
Rugby for boys and girls
Hockey for boys and girls
Volleyball for boys and girls
Netball for girls
Cricket for boys
Coaching of learners is done mainly by teachers in some codes parents also assist on a voluntary basis. Participation of learners is not at the level that we wish to have it but they are never the less encouraged to participate. We definitely need more parental involvement.
In 2015 we acquired our own minibus to assist with transport of learners to sporting events.
The organization of fixtures in the northern areas is also a challenge because not all schools actively practice sport. In these instances we organize our own games with schools outside our area.
